Public consultation on strengthening EU cooperation on Health Technology Assessment (HTA)- open

The public consultation published on 21 October aims to gather detailed views and opinions relating to the future of the EU cooperation on Health Technology Assessment (HTA).

HTA is supposed to measure the added value of a new health technology in comparison to existing technologies. The purpose of HTA is to support decision makers at national, regional or local level in their efforts to ensure that patients are treated with the best available treatment while keeping the health budgets under control.

The results of this public consultation will feed into the impact assessment process which the Commission services are currently preparing on strengthening EU cooperation on HTA.

All stakeholders including citizens, industry and public administration may participate in this public consultation.

The period of consultation runs from 21 October to 13 January 2017.

The strategy for the public consultation can be accessed here.
