The European Research Council (ERC) which funds basic or “high risk” research in the EU has published its 2016 budget
For 2016, calls for starting grants amount to €485 million with a deadline of 17 November. These are open to researchers with two to seven years of experience since completing a PhD.
The largest portion of funding however will go to consolidator grants which are open to those with 7-12 year experience since PhD completion.
These calls are open to any field and colleagues are encouraged to review the work programme to see if funding is available for their field of interest.
The full 2016 work programme can be found here.
