The European Parliament has forwarded a written declaration (i.e. a very short non-binding statement of will) on electronic health records to the Council and the Commission, on 27 April 2016.
A mature and interoperable environment for comprehensive electronic health records should replace the current paper-based and isolated digital systems, while respecting the respecting patients’ rights to privacy and data protection.
The declaration underlines the potential of digital healthcare and how the Parliament is increasingly realizing the potential of digital health.
This might be of interest for VPH projects such as PASSPORT (Patient-Specific Simulation and Pre-Operative Realistic Training), which is working on the development of new virtual databases of patients, using cloud computing.
