EUMATRIX, an EU focused think tank recently published the MEP INFLUENCE INDEX 2022.
The MEP that was nominated as the most influential in general is the President of the European Parliament (EP) Roberta Metsola (EPP, Malta) followed by Manfred Weber (EPP, Germany,) and Heidi Huatala (GREENS/EFA, Finland).
Véronique Trillet-Lenoir (Renew, France) is considered the most influential MEP in health policy. She is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) and of the Special Committee on the COVID-19 pandemic (COVI). She was also Rapporteur of the Report on strengthening Europe in the fight against cancer and for the Regulation on serious cross-border health threats.
Cristian Silviu-Busoi (EPP, Romania), Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), and EP Rapporteur for the EU4Health programme is the second in the list.
The 3rd position goes to Joanna Kopcińska (ECR, Poland), member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), Rapporteur of the file on 1) European Centre for disease prevention and control, and Shadow Rapporteur of 2) the file on serious cross-border threats, 3) the reinforced role for the European Medicines Agency and 4) EU4Health Programme.
Tiemo Wölken (S&D, Germany), member of member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), Rapporteur for the EP for the file on health technology assessment, is the 4th.
Finally, in 5th position is Sara Cerdas (S&D, Portugal), member of member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), of theSpecial Committee on the COVID-19 pandemic (COVI), and EP Shadow Rapporteur for the file on serious EU4Health programme.
