FIMH is a biennial scientific event that aims to integrate the state of the art research and novel development efforts in the fields of cardiovascular imaging, image analysis and heart modeling. The main goal is to encourage collaboration among students, junior and senior scientists working in signal and image processing, imaging, applied mathematics, biophysics, biomedical engineering, and experts in cardiology, radiology, biology and physiology.

The 12th edition was held from June 19-22, 2023 in Lyon, France.

As part of the activities of the SimCardioTest project, the VPH Institute contributed to the event as sponsor and awarded two prizes respectively for an oral and poster presentation.

  • 1st prize oral presentation: Nariman Khaledian, Inria, Université de Lorraine, CNRS. "Influence of Anisotropy on Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulations of Image-Based and Generic Mitral Valves."
  • 1st prize poster presentation: Priya Nair, Stanford University. "Hemodynamics in Patients with Aortic Coarctation: A Comparison of in vivo 4D-Flow MRI and FSI Simulation."

Our best congratulation to Nariman and Priya for their outstanding work!

For the occasion, the VPHi also offered one of its members a free registration to the event, that was assigned to Vicky Wang from University of Auckland.

In collaboration with her colleague, Dr Luigi Perotti from University of Central Florida, Vicky organized the Cardiac Kinematics Workshop that saw the participation of 4 world-renowned experts in cardiac imaging, modeling, and clinical cardiology to discuss the state-of-the-art in cardiac kinematics.
