Rossana Alessandrello (AQuAS) is appointed coordinator of the Value Based Procurement Subcommittee

On January 25, 2022, the Catalonian Department of Health created the Departmental Commission for Innovation and Transformation in Health, in order to coordinate the strategy for the use of Next Generation EU (NGEU) funds in the field of health and within the framework of the Next Generation Catalonia project, as well as the funds from the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 and the European Framework Programme in force, as key instruments for the adoption of innovation and generation of transformations in the health system promoted by the Department of Health, the Catalonian Health Service (the public payor) and the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS).

Among the functions of this Commission focused on the adoption of innovation, the following were identified:

e) Define the strategy for the use, programming and execution of projects through the various instruments of public procurement of innovation, together with the Catalonian Health Service, AQuAS and the healthcare providers belonging to the Comprehensive Health System for Public Use in Catalonia (SISCAT)

f) Define the strategy for the use, programming and execution of projects through the various alternative instruments for adopting innovation and generating transformations in the health system, together with the Catalonian Health Service and SISCAT entities

g) Ensure the correct coordination of the various existing instruments for adopting innovation in the field of SISCAT

In this context, Rossana Alessandrello, Value-Based Procurement Director at AQuAS, will coordinate the subcommittee "Value-Based Procurement”.

This subcommittee aims to:

• define the methodological framework for value based procurement taking place in the Catalonian health system
• create a registry of procurement procedures enabling the evaluation and improvement of the methodological framework and the evaluation of the impact of these procurements on the generation of value and of the improvement of people's health and well-being.

The European Connected Health Alliance (ECHAlliance) will host the Value Based Procurement Subcommittee kick off on March 1 at the Mobile World Congress 2023.
