The EU, US and Australia have come together to promote open access to scientific data, through the formation of the Research Data Alliance (RDA).
The RDA is a newly formed international body, set up to promote the development of new infrastructures, standards and tools for sharing and mining research outputs.
The over-arching goal of the RDA is to enable greater collaboration among scientists from a range of different disciplines to encourage the use and re-use of data. The majority of the work of the RDA will be done through working groups, which have the goal of finding new ways to ensure the free flow of data and ensure maximum access for aspiring researchers.
