Policy Affair Work Group established

At the last Board of Directors meeting (Paris May 24th, 2012), it was formalized the establishment of the so called “Policy Affair Work Group” which will coordinate the future policy activities of the Institute. The Work Group has now been formed and it will kick off with a first teleconference on Friday the 13th of June.

One of the goals of the VPH Institute is to organize policy activities toward the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Member States, to ensure that the level of funding VPH-related research has enjoyed since 2006 will be sustained in the next framework program.

In order to accomplish this task, the VPH Institute has established a Work Group composed by expert and motivated people who will work on developing a policy program for the next three years, targeting FP8, and the general positioning of the VPH at the European level and with the member states.

The Work Group will be assisted by a professional consultant agency, specialized in healthcare policy creation and management, which was recently contracted by the Institute.

The Work Group composition is the following:

  • Marco Viceconti, VPH Institute Executive Director
  • Edwin Morley Fletcher, representative of the supporting member Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù
  • Adriano Henney,  Director of  the Virtual Liver Network
  • Liesbet Geris, representative of the VPH Institute member University of Liège (Biomechanics Research Unit)
  • Peter Coveney, Vanessa Diaz and Dipak Karla, representatives of the VPH Institute member University College London
  • Leire Solis and James Kennedy, Policy consultants
