The Labour UK MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber will be visiting Sheffield University.
Ms. Linda McAvan will be visiting Sheffield University in April this year to view the work being done by members of VPH and to talk about how the UK and her own constituency has benefitted from Membership of the European Union.
Ms. McAvan is a thought leader in healthcare in the European Parliament and has played a key role in nearly all major healthcare legislation at EU level since she first took office in 1998. She has been an active campaigner for “Remain” in the EU in the upcoming Brexit campaign and in highlighting the benefits of membership.
Sheffield University is not just a participant in the EU in Science but is an active driver of science at EU level and beyond. Through the VPH Institute, Sheffield has helped put in silico on the policy map in Brussels and insured its inclusion in Horizon 2020.
As Ms. McAvan has a strong connection with the University of Sheffield, it is unsurprising that a prominent MEP would point to Sheffield as one more reason for Britain to remain in the EU.
