On 9 August 2021, the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) adopted its 2021 annual work programme. The work programme outlines the calls under Horizon Europe and EU4Health that HaDEA will be responsible for.
HaDEA agency was set up in April 2021 with the aim of reducing the administrative burden of European funding programmes (such as the EU4Health programme, Horizon Europe and Digital Europe Programme (which has not yet released its funding calls)) by managing their annual work programmes. The agency is responsible for implementing various support tasks, such as the launch and conclusion of grant and procurement procedures, the adoption of award decisions, project monitoring, financial control and programme evaluations. In-silico medicine was specifically mentioned in multiple calls, both relating to the aim of utilising in-silico methods to analyse data sets and to repurpose medicinal products.
Here the main outputs expected for the year 2021 per programme, which are of relevance to VPHi members.
The EU4Health programme aims to build a strong European Health Union, where Member States can effectively respond to health crises and medical supplies are more affordable and innovative. The agency will ensure that EU4Health supports national policies and enhances their added value. For 2021, many EU4Health calls are planned to be published by HaDEA - the full list can be found here
Horizon Europe works towards boosting Europe’s innovation capacity, competitiveness and job market. As part of Horizon Europe’sprogramme, the agency will implement actions and ensure the full evaluation process of the Mission on Cancer and the “HERA incubator” emergency call. In addition, the agency will help to ensure complementarity and seek synergies between the EU4Health programme and Horizon Europe Pillar 2, Cluster 1 – Health. For 2021, many Horizon Europe calls are planned to be published by HaDEA - the full list can be found here
