The biannual MD- Paedigree newsletter provides an overview of the project, but also describes MD- Paedigree’s role in the VPH Community.
Since the kick-off meeting in March 2013, MD-Paedigree has already come a long way, following on the two highly acclaimed 6th and 7th FP projects: Health-e-Child and Sim-e-Child. It is thanks to the breakthrough outcomes of these two projects that it was possible to lay the foundations for this new, exciting, and successful cooperation within the MD-Paedigree Consortium.
One of the aims of the project is to establish and consolidate synergies between all partners, and the cooperation with closely related projects such as the EU co-funded Personalised Medicine (P-Medicine) and Virtual Physiological Human Share (VPH-Share). Close cooperation with these two projects will ensure that MD-Paedigree developments will be highly interoperable with the VPH Infostructure on the semantic layer for effective indexing and searching of data collections.
In its first six months, the MD-Paedigree Management and Technical Coordination Board has been working hard to develop the semantic data structure through face to face and online collaboration as well as at the MD-Paedigree 1st biannual meeting in Genoa (Italy).
In addition, special efforts have been made to present MD-Paedigree at several major events: European Society for Movement Analysis in Adults and Children (ESMAC), held in Glasgow (Scotland) last September, this October at Paediatrics 2040 in Anaheim (USA) and at the EC’s ICT 2013 Conference, which took place on 6th – 8th November in Vilnius (Lithuania). At ICT 2013, MD-Paedigree hosted a booth which won the “Best Exhibit Award”, ran a packed networking session on Big Data and Data Analytics Impact in Healthcare and distributed a discussion paper on Big Data Healthcare.
