Director of Insigneo - University of Sheffield vacancy

Insigneo, Sheffield’s multidisciplinary Institute for in silicoMedicine, is seeking to appoint an internationally renowned Chair to provide inspirational academic leadership to the Institute. The successful individual will develop the strategy for Insigneo, bringing together the expertise from its contributing members in Sheffield:

  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health
  • Faculty of Science
  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (STHT)

in collaboration with partners within the UK and internationally, to deliver world leading research and postgraduate education across a range of relevant disciplines.

As Director, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Institute. You will take overall responsibility for directing and co-ordinating the research activity of Insigneo, and developing and maintaining the Institute’s positive profile within the University, nationally and internationally.

Alongside the role of Director, you will continue to develop your own academic career, contributing strongly in teaching, research and scholarship that is recognised internationally for its originality, significance and rigour.

Our ideal candidate will be an internationally renowned Professor with experience of delivering high-quality research in the field of biometrics, computational modelling, or another discipline relevant to the work of Insigneo, as well as a relevant PhD.

You will be able to provide effective leadership to a high-profile interdisciplinary Institute, will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of developing and delivering high-quality teaching at a variety of levels.
